It’s extremely difficult for me to view Connor as cis simply because he holds little to no stock in his masculinity or masculine identity, I don’t think he’s referred to himself as a man even once throughout the span of the game

And within the context of his culture, it’s also interesting because the Iroquois peoples didn’t have any established roles for gender variant folks despite the fact that alternative gender identities were recorded in ethnographies like Histoire de l'Amérique Septentrionale and whatnot

and that’s fitting for him? Because Connor, as a biracial Iroquois male, has never exactly felt as if he belonged with his tribe due to the cultural dichotomy and shock he experienced once he was exposed to the other half of his heritage and lived outside of their village so he could properly protect them

basically: Connor himself never really conformed to or had an established role within the structure of the Iroquois peoples, he has essentially no value for his masculinity so I have a certain fondness for nonbinary Connor headcanons and I think I’ve subconsciously sort of seen them as canon in my head
