WHITEHORSE - Prime Minister Stephen Harper says police investigations, not a national inquiry, are the best way to deal with crimes involving missing and murdered aboriginal women. The death of a 15-year-old aboriginal girl found wrapped in a bag …There is no reason that both police investigations and a national inquiry can’t happen. Prime Minister Stephen Harper wants the first, but the latter would also help investigators gain more information, and more insight.
Conservatives I talk to say that Inquiries are a waste of taxpayers dollars. To them I say, anything that can be done, should.
Considering the the Conservatives just spent 24 million dollars on a pro-oilsands/KXL pipeline advertising scheme which didn’t work at all, they don’t have an excuse.
Lets not forget about advertising the ‘Economic Action Plan’ long after the program expired. This government wastes a lot of tax payers money for its own benefit; surely a public enquiry to investigate the causes and solutions to the systematic murder and kidnapping of aboriginal women could at least be considered.
