Call-In script ideas:
“I am calling on behalf of Jacqueline Sanchez, Salvador Chavez, Pouyan Bokaei, Jessica Rey and Janet Mathieson. I request that you drop all charges against these five people. Their peaceful participation in the July 4th protest in Murrieta was an exercise of their First Amendment Rights. In accordance with the governing authority of the United States Constitution, you are legally obligated to drop all charges against these individuals.”
‘I am calling in regards to Jacqueline Sanchez, Salvador Chavez, Pouyan Bokaei, Jessica Rey and Janet Mathieson who were wrongfully arrested and brutalized by the Murrieta Police and Border Patrol. The police selectively targeted pro immigration people with violence and arrested them in support of anti-immigration protesters. Murrieta police were involved themselves in the protests and deliberately blocking the buses of migrant children- an act of white supremacist vigilantism. The Riverside District Attorney has violated their oath by aggressively charging the defendants with Lynching felonies. This is unacceptable. All charges should be dropped in the interest of justice.”
What Happened??:
From the mayor, city council candidates, to the police and federal border patrol officers, multiple parties in Murrieta collaborated to block the buses and discriminate against child refugees.
Five people are currently facing charges as a result of participating AGAINST anti-immigration organizing in Murrieta, CA. After a live streamer was punched by an anti-immigrant protester, folks counter-protesting the anti-immigrant organizers decided to leave the hostile, right-wing dominant protest site. As these folks were leaving, they were physically and sexually assaulted by Murrieta Police Officers, these officers were also supported and backed by United States Border Patrol Officers and the Sheriff. Subsequently, five people were jailed and bail was set at $50,000. Each persyn is charged with a Felony lynching and a Misdemeanor Obstruction of Arrest. One persyn is also charged with assault of an officer.
The lynching charge is an arcane law used to prosecute racist white vigilantes who would steal American Indians, Latinos and Africans from police custody and then lynch/murder them. Now it’s being used as a tool of police oppression against protestors to defend the interests of white racist anti immigration protesters. DROP THE CHARGES. END RACISM. SUPPORT RESISTANCE.
Solidarity with all those who face oppression and repression all around the world! Through the [in]justice systems, and intersecting hierarchies that build upon colonization- like borders, prisons and white-suppremacist-capitalist-militarist-patriarchy, which support profit at the expense of humyn and all life. For a better free world. These are people in my area who are having their rights violated by the police.
